Five Point Programmatic Thrust

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide programs and services to promote human welfare. The major programs of the Sorority are based upon a Five-Point Program Thrust:

  • Educational Development

  • Economic Development

  • Physical & Mental Health

  • Political Awareness & Involvement

  • International Awareness & Involvement

Physical & Mental Health

Physical & Mental Health is to enlighten the community on the different issues involving their physical and mental well-being, provide information and create programs to enlighten our chapter’s membership and surrounding environment, and to encourage a healthy lifestyle while aligning our efforts with our National Initiatives.

Economic Development

Economic Development is responsible for the development and implementation of projects designed to encourage and enhance economic development in our communities.

Educational Development

Educational Development is designed to plan and implement programs emphasizing scholastic achievement and higher academic development. Locally, the committee implements initiatives designed to address the community’s concerns regarding excellence in education, college preparation and service learning.

International Awareness
& Involvement

International Awareness and Involvement of the Columbus (GA) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is committed to aiding members of the international community.

Political Awareness
& Involvement

Political Awareness and Involvement Committee works on relevant social action issues impacting our cities and its citizens. The committee is dedicated to educating individuals about societal issues that adversely affect our communities, encouraging them to take action.
