Political Awareness and Involvement Committee
works on relevant social action issues impacting our cities and its citizens. The committee is dedicated to educating individuals about societal issues that adversely affect our communities, encouraging them to take action.
International Awareness and Involvement
This committee shall stimulate interest in social action and educate the public and chapter on current issues as well as develop and coordinate social action programs and projects to meet the needs of the community.
VOTER REGISTRATION TRAINING
In collaboration with the local Voter Registration Office, Columbus (GA) Alumnae Chapter launched a campaign to provide Deputy Voter Registration Training for chapter members and other citizens.
VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVE
Registered local citizens and students at local High Schools and other sites in our community. The three month effort yielded 100 newly registered voters.
COLUMBUS (GA) ALUMNAE CHAPTER SOCIAL ACTION LUNCHEON
Inaugural luncheon themed, "Advocay in Action: A Stronger Presence, A Stronger Voice" led by attorney, Janice L. Mathis who challenged over 50 local community leaders and activists to take a more active role in social action.
THE CASTLE LAW FORUM (GA'S STAND YOUR GROUND LAW)
This program enlisted 50 individuals and students to provide community awareness as it relates to Georgia's Castle Law. Volunteers collaborated with Columbus State University Chapter of the NAACP, local city chapter of the NAACP and local attorney Shavon Thomas.
